Overview

Optical coatings are a critical portion of the finished optical component or assembly. Accurate optical coating design and production can mean the difference between the component failing in the field, or lasting for the intended lifetime of the project. Edmund Optics^® has extensive coating capabilities, and expertise in producing coatings for life science applications and medical devices, harsh environment imaging assemblies, and applications throughout the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS), and infrared (IR) spectral regions. All optics are meticulously cleaned, coated, and inspected in a clean room environment, and subjected to the environmental, thermal, and durability requirements specified by our customers. Capabilities

Edmund Optics^® produces dozens of stock anti-reflection (AR) and metallic mirror coatings and an even wider range of custom optical coatings in our internal coating facilities. If our standard coating options will not work for your application, we will work with you to design a custom coating.

Spectrophotometers Spectrophotometers are a type of spectrometer that measure the transmission spectrum of optics as a function of wavelength. They are often used to characterize optical coatings. - Agilent Cary, Hitachi, PerkinElmer LAMBDA, PerkinElmer FTIR, Varian, Essent Optics, and Photo RT
Olympus MX51 DIC Microscopes Microscopes are used to determine the surface quality of optics.

UltraFast Innovations White Light InterferometerInterferometers are instruments used to measure small displacements, refractive index changes, and surface irregularities. They split light from a single source into two separate beams that travel different optical paths before recombining. Interference fringes are then formed, which provides information on the difference in optical path length between the two paths. Interferometers are often used to measure the surface accuracy of optics. for GDD measurements
